Hello, friends! This week I am posting three of my polite rants I publish each week for my school's newsletter. Enjoy! 1. Christian Music>>>>Hey y’all! I hope week 1 of school went well for everyone. This week was very exciting or me, because I helped move one of my brothers into college and I began my SENIOR YEAR of High School. I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic about how much has changed since 2017. With everyone learning from home, I was reminded of my ninth grade year and all that happened to help me discover my love for Christian Music, better known as Jesus Jams. There is a lot that I have been taught, solely from listening to Christian Music, and I promote it every chance I get. The thing that is so powerful about Jesus Jams is that there is one for pretty much any situation AND any genre. If I’m in a country mood, I listen to songs written by Cody Johnson. If I’m in a pop mood, I listen to Mandisa’s music. If I ever want to hear the occasional Christian Rap—it’s available! Jesus Jams are also the world’s most effective chill pill. When Dan Crenshaw cape to speak to the Upper School my 10th Grade Year, he told us that counting to ten is the best way to control nerves when something is upsetting. I say that listening to Hillsong or MercyMe is way more effective, because it reminds everyone that God’s got their back. I hope you all liked today’s “rave” and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store. Remember that things aren’t “bad” they are just “revved up”!! 2. New things This week, I’m talking about trying new things. During the quarantine, I started a garden in my backyard and workings outside almost every day has given me a great opportunity for reflection. Currently, I am working with tomatoes and green beans, but soon it’s time to plant apples!! I think finding new hobbies or activities is the best way to discover more about oneself, and also the best way to connect with other people. The fourth day of school was my favorite so far because I talked with Mrs. Morris about plants. It was such a great conversation. I STRONGLY recommend trying something new in these times because it is a very uncertain period, and it’s important to stay connected with yourself. If you are unsure about what new activities to try, my greatest suggestion is to start small. I grew a succulent from sixth grade to now, and noticed that I have a green thumb. Maybe you like writing. Try starting a blog! It’s important to reach out of your comfort zone every once in a while because time flies, and an opportunity that one doesn’t take can be a regret later. Just go for it and have fun!! 3. Old pictures Hey everyone! This week I was in the car with my mom and C’mon Eileen came on the radio. That sent her all the way back to 5th grade when the song came out. This made me think about how fun it is to look at old pictures to recall memories I forgot I had. This week, my rave is memory lane. Whenever I can’t sleep, I open my google drive and look through pictures from the weirdest phases of my life. It is so much fun, and I recommend stalking old photographs in the company of family and friends. This week, if you get nervous, unhappy, excited, etc, look through some old pictures, share them with friends, and build more connections.
